Virginia City, NV — The 601 Vigilance Committee honored the life and legacy of Robert Russell, an American hero and Virginia City legend, with a 21-gun salute at the historic Bucket of Blood Saloon.
Russell, a 22-year United States Marine Corps veteran who served in three wars, was remembered not only for his extraordinary military service but also for his deep ties to the Virginia City community. A familiar face at the Bucket of Blood, he was known for his presence, stories, and unwavering pride in his country.
The tribute brought together members of the 601 Vigilance Committee, local residents, and friends to celebrate a life defined by honor, service, and community.
“Bob was a respected, admired and honored American legend — a loyal friend and a Marine who never lost his humility, kindness, or love for others,” said Old Gus Fincel.
The 601 Vigilance Committee extends its gratitude to all who participated in honoring Robert Russell and preserving his legacy.
